Well, challenge in confrontation, and a lot of people tend to shy away from that.
Plus you didn't deliver a concrete challenge. You just said 'codeoff!', but you didn't say what form the challenge would take. Without being specific, it's impossible for the challengee to know whether the challenge will fall in their areas of expertise, or involve something that would surpass them.

As examples... lessee.
Putting together a banking system that allows the storage of money AND items, using only RMXP's event buttons. I'm well aware there are scripts that let you juggle inventory that could serve for this, but the point is to structure it using only the limit commands RMXP allows for events. Winner produces the system with the best functionality using the least number of commands over however many pages necessary.
Or something involving the scripting system. Like, say... adding a new stat (Luck?) and giving it relevance in the battle system of RMXP?

Alternatively, C++ at dawn. Were any of those what you were thinking about?

KR has always been hovering between 'populated' and 'sparse'. Whilst we have had high population numbers in the past, it wa still generally always only a small section of that who were really active.
Partially because, once upon a time, Kobra required registration for access to materials. That's how I ended up here, in fact. Something along those lines - that, or me asking for help with RM2K.

I tend to be better in small groups than not, wherever I go. Less stress staffing.

Anyway, on topic... ah, iDraw. I now remember why I wholly ditched you in favour of anything else, once I stopped using RM2K.
Unfortunately for me, it's the only way I ever kept to palette. Work goes well, if you discount having to use iDraw; the head and tongue are done. Now I just have to sort out the clothing, and then it's just altering all poses to be consistent.

Post-script:
Also, completely boycotting VX is probably a little unwise. It IS a step back from what RMXP allows, particularly with sprites, but it's still workable. We didn't boycott RM2K3, did we? VX is RMXP hybridised with 2K3 - it just picked up a few undesirable traits in the process.

Sorry about taking a while. I got hit with more work from university.
NOW that I've hit an entirely new brick wall, I get to wait for a response from my supervisor. Perfect excuse to work on this instead.

Okay. Tongue, check. I'll see about making a weapon, too, after I'm done with the battlecharset.

Hmm. Okay, happily the Charas Generator has a piece of clothing that's roughly the same shape as Quina's outfit would be. That means I can just recolour that, rather than work out the shape myself - better for me, as I don't have a copy of 2K3 to test the resulting set with.

Also, I notice your charset doesn't have Quina's tongue. Is this intentional, and should it be reflected in the battlecharset?

I need a new computer soon, as Spore's coming out soon and this computer won't be able to handle it.
Unfortunately, no one knows whether Spore will work under XP. Plus Dell and everyone else are being horrible, still, and saying 'no, no more XP after June'.

Wind. I have a couple of reasons behind this choice.

I live in the north of England. We have a lot of all elements save fire; the heating's always malfunctioning, but it rains a lot, has a lot of ground packed into a small area, and doesn't like umbrellas.

Water. Rain is absolutely horrible. By itself, or in combination with anything else. We get a lot of rain up here.
Earth. I like walking, and need exercise, but I don't like the mountains up here. I'm not that fit yet.
Wind. This is nasty in combination with rain, but outside of that situation I find it reasonably pleasant, no matter how strong it is.

Other, more random reasons:
In Suikoden, the Wind runes get both healing spells and sleep-inducing spells. Great combination.
The entire Klonoa series.

Yu Yevon, without a doubt. He's one of the root causes of everything that happened in that game and sequel, and actually had a good reason in the first place. As he doesn't have much screen-time at all, it's amazing that he's one of the better-developed villains in the Final Fantasy series, as far as I'm concerned; his actions were, to a point, rational, and are gradually revealed to the player. He even continues to get 'development' after his death, in FFX2.

Second place is Ultimecia, simply because of all the theories surrounding her. Take your pick of interpretation.

Of course.

I AM saying it's been tried before and has uniformly failed, though.

Also, I find I am lacking respect for the Sith lately. Perhaps it was the Sith Cruiser a number of Jedi jacked, recently.

Which Gilgamesh? Final Fantasy Gilgamesh - in which case, which game? - or Fate/Stay Night Gilgamesh?

As for Quina... do you have a charset for me to peer at? I might be able to make something. I'm assuming RM2K3 standard battlecharset?

The charasets in the RTP look like a throwback, honestly. The icons are nice, but they turned out to be a set I've had hanging around for ages anyway.
It really seems like they didn't bother putting any work into the RTP this time around. There are less tilesets than attack animations. The battlers are nice, but... that's about all.

Well, I use the purchased version. It's not all that expensive, the translation is good, we HAVE help files we can trust, and if we support Enterbrain they'll keep bringing new versions out here.
Like VX. I'm not certain if that is any good, though - it looks like the 2K3 'upgrade' equivalent, with features RMXP should have had in the first place.

Um. Well, I don't use them. Well, I do, but only this once.

CODE
You do strikethroughs like [s]this[/s]

For HTML, just replace the square brackets with a set of <>'s. They won't work here, though - you have to use BB Code.

I don't know about running RMXP under Vista - if it really doesn't work, I might consider getting a laptop soon after I get a new computer for Spore, for RMXP and other things that apparently won't run well, like approximately half the things on here.

Ah... HA! A few minutes of searching turns up this, which might be the answer to some problems:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHUB6FCAqCA
...if you turn up the volume enough that the voice is understandable.

If the problem is purely with finding a server to get the serial number from, there are a couple of things to try.
First, check that nTitles (or whomever) are still providing trial serials. If you can't find anything, or they're not, look for a different trial download - Fileplanet, or somewhere with a name like that, should have one. The trials are legal, so it's not like they'll be popping out of existence shortly.
Second, check your firewall and security settings. Windows can be pretty silly about this.
Third... uh... hmm. I don't have a third. It's not a problem I've encountered, given I haven't (yet) fallen victim to Vista and the need for a new computer.

You were around ages back? Was it under your current name, or something else?
I suppose you might have been before or after my times, but I'm sorry if I should recognise your name, as it's ringing no bells for me.

Well, I'm not going to ban you for your (second?) very first post. I'm still not really sure on my status as staff, anyway. Welcome (back) to KR. So long as you keep to the rules, I won't have a problem with you.

Um... which MMO?

See, he tried to make a lot, with a variety of different engines. He's probably still trying, or was at least still interested in the idea last I saw.

Happy 16th. I don't actually know where you live, so I can't say anything about extra privileges, or even know if you'll be gaining any.

...wow, I feel old. The only person who isn't making me feel old right now is dakota.

Actually, I plan on being around quite frequently. Though I'm inactive, I'm still staff.
And I say I have no problem with this so long as it follows all the normal rules.

Carry on, nothing to see here.

Nonsense. Everyone wants to be British. Well, maybe. Nothing wrong with being treated as British.

A belated happy birthday, at any rate.

GearHead is a roguelike, so strategy is an element, but since it's so customiseable, it's possible to have a mecha and pilot that your enemies can't even dent. It's nowhere near as impossible as NetHack or Angband can seem.

Well, UT has always been very popular. Why release a game (Halo) into a market if you have no clue whether that game will have an audience (UT's audience)?

I'm partial to mecha games, but I've never played Mechassault. My game of choice is GearHead, which is about the most customiseable mecha game out there - I haven't found another game that lets you add 16 extra legs, a pair of wings and four small nuclear bombs to a single mecha.
I'm also much better for it because it's a roguelike and, hence, doesn't rely on reaction speed like Halo. I'm useless at stuff like that.
