Christians, I would like you to meet my good friend "Mithra." Mithra was an important Persian deity whose story began in the 12th Century BCE-- roughly 1,000 years before Christianity was even conceived. Mithra was born on December 25th (an important date to Pagan religions, as it marked the Winter Solstice, a turning point in the Earth's path around the sun, and signified a time of birth as the earth reapproached the sun), spent his life banishing devils and healing the sick and wounded, and was crucified and resurrected three days later on Easter Sunday. But don't take my word for it, look it up yourself.
So now that we've established that the early Christians are not only full of shit (I've covered this in previous articles if you're interested) but apparently they were also guilty of plagiarism. So why should I waste a perfectly day in my spring break to "reflect on the resurrection" that never happened? I don't even have to bring the controversial supposed discovery of Jesus's tomb to say it never happened-- the fact that the entire story was stolen from an older religion proves just that.
You're probably formulating the hate-mail you're gonna send me right now, and it probably sounds something like, "So what's your point? Just because-- insert my logic here-- does that mean we shouldn't celebrate Easter? (Now to follow up with a line paraphrased directly from Maddox) Atheists are willing to bitch and moan about religion when it's convenient, and you proved just that." ...and it will go on for pages. Don't waste your time with that bullshit, because it just goes to show that you're missing my point entirely (especially with that first line there):
Your God is not the one true god. Stop forcing your beliefs onto others!
As an agnostic, I try to avoid arguing with zealous idiots-- but the atheist side of my beliefs reers its ugly head every time someone in Wal-Marx or some other grocery store decides to walk around parroting whatever bullshit they just had shoved into their skulls at church. I could walk around all day debating religion with every Christian I see (using the Bible as cannon fodder) and shake the foundation of their faith, but I don't because I'm not out to convert people to Atheism. If I don't challenge your beliefs, don't try to make me feel like I should be guilty or less of a human being because I refuse to believe in your contrite bullshit. Call it a compromise.
Update (7-13-2007):

Some of my critics are lazy cocksuckers who don't bother to research anything before they point the finger of "You're full of shit."
6,118 Christians weeped when they realized that their religion was plagiarized.
